The body of a prominent Braggadocio merchant, A.M. DeBakey, was found early Wednesday morning in the bathroom of his home by neighbors, he having presumably died several days ago, possibly Saturday, of a heart attack. Mr. DeBakey's wife and daughter were away from the home at the time.
No inquest was held. Coroner John German stating that death was obviously due to natural causes.
Alexander Mark DeBakey was born in Syria March 27, 1899, and came to this country when a young man. He lived for a few years in Caruthersville but had been in Braggadocio for the past 24 years and was 57 years old.
Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. H.C. Adkins in the Braggadocio Baptist church yesterday (Thursday) afternoon with burial in Maple Cemetery, this city, German Funeral Home of Steele was in charge.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mary Lee DeBakey, a son, A.M. DeBakey Jr., a daughter, Annie Belle DeBakery, and two grandchildren, all of Braggadocio; and two brothers Ellis DeBakey of Fort Worth, Texas and S.M. DeBakey of Lake Chrles, La.
