SOLDIER'S SUDDEN DEATH
An old veteran and inmate of the Soldiers' home met a violent death this morning at about 2 o'clock. His name is Edward Albright. It appears from the statement of some of the inmates that Albright, who has been in feeble health for some time and more or less afflicted with insomnia, was noticed at an early hour to leave his room on the upper floor and proceed down stairs for a walk in the open air, as was his custom occasionally. Nothing more was thought of the circumstances until at daylight his dead body was found at the bottom of the first flight of stairs with a fracture in his right temple which must have caused death almost instantly. It would appear that when he reached the first steps of the stairway, owing to his general weakness, he lost his balance and fell headlong to the bottom. Dr. Sadler, the home physician and the officers were immediately notified but the old veteran had passed to his reward beyond this earth.

Edward Albright was 54 years of age and a native of Ohio. He served as a private in company G, Twenty-third Ohio infantry for four years, and has been a member of the home since June 26, 1891. The deceased had many friends had many friends who will sincerely mourn his sudden taking off. His relative, if any there by, are unknown to the home authorities. The funeral will take place tomorrow at 2 p.m. with interment in the home cemetery. It is stated as a noticeable fact that when deceased was mustered out of the volunteer service his company commander was Captain William McKinley, now president of the United States.
