Herbert Lee Norfleet was born to Carthel and Elsie (Henderson) Norfleet in Somerset, Kentucky. Herbert had appox 16 or 17 brothers and sisters. Herbert first joined the U.S.Navy where he served for two years. After leaving the navy he joined the U.S. Army where he was to retired after 20 years.

In Nov 1962 Herbert was an honor guard for President Kennedy's lying in state, funeral and burial.
