Franklin "Frank" Perry Emch, born on 1 May 1879, at Basil in Fairfield County, Ohio and died in 10 September 1963, at Elgin in Grant County, North Dakota. Frank was the son of Niclaus "Nicholas" Carlton Emch (1852-1930) and his wife, Rachel Rebecca (née Torrence) Emch (1857-1947).
He married on 26 August 1900, at Carroll in Wayne County, Nebraska his first wife, Lucy Forest Fahnstock (1879-1918). They join his father and brothers and homestead in Grant County in 1907. Frank's farm was southwest of Leith in Sounders Township. Lucy died of influenza at Frank's homestead during the great 1918 influenza pandemic. They were the parents of: Forrest Irene Emch, Perry R. Emch, Muriel L. (née Emch) Sept, Rollie O. Emch, Wilma M. (née Emch) Ricker, Eunice (née Emch) Cain, and Opal F. (née Emch) Holton.
Frank married a second time after the death of his first wife on 21 April 1927, to the widow Regina "Jean" (née Alzner) Wachsman(n) (1893-1983). This second union produced the following children: Franklin Nicholas Emch, Mary Ann Emch, James "Jim" William Emch, Duane David Emch, and Donald R. Emch,
