A Warren County native, he was retired from H. W. Clark Company in Mattoon, Illinois, and was a member of New Life Church of Jesus Christ in Manchester.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Fred and Jessie Mae Jones Lemons; a daughter, Debra Sue Turner; a grandson Kevin Lemons; and two brothers, Dewey Lemons and Ted Ogles.
Survivors include his wife, Thelma Pitts Lemons; three sons, James, Herman and David Lemons, of Manchester; five sisters, Goldie Lancaster, Elsie Allen, Helen Swan and Ellen Spry, of Elkhart, Indiana, and Alice Shannon, of Manchester; 13 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; five step grandchildren; three great great grandchildren and five step great great grandchildren.
Services were held Thursday at Manchester Funeral Home with burial following in Summitville.
