ELKHART -- Goldie Susie Lancaster, 80, of 57522 Gano, died at 8:55 p.m. Wednesday (Oct. 3, 2001) at Sunbridge Care & Rehabilitation.

She was born on March 15, 1921, in Manchester, Tenn., to James F. and Jessie M. (Jones) Lemons. She married James D. Lancaster on Nov. 6, 1964, in Cassopolis. He died on Nov. 26, 1972. Surviving are two stepsons, James (Eileen) and John (Peggy), both of Elkhart; eight stepgrandchildren; 16 stepgreat-grandchildren; and four sisters, Mrs. Willis (Mary) Spry and Jessie Swan, both of Elkhart, Elsie Allen of South Bend and Alice Shannon of Manchester, Tenn. Four brothers, Willie Lemons, Dewey Lemons, Freddie Lemons and Gradie Lemons, and a half-brother, Ted Ogle, preceded her in death.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Elkhart chapel of Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, where the funeral service is scheduled for 1 p.m. Monday. Shirley Fox will officiate. Burial will be in Prairie Street Cemetery.
