Margaret ‘Marge' Josephine Jackson, nee Whalen, 80 years 10 months & 19 days, of DeSoto, MO, formerly of Cahokia, IL, born Aug. 29, 1928 in the Halloran Community on Ten Mile Creek, Butler County, MO, died Saturday evening July 18, 2009 at Fountainbleau Nursing Center in Festus, MO.

Margaret's education began at Halloran School on Ten Mile Creek, Butler County, MO. She completed her High School GED, and attended the National School of Practical Nursing in St Louis, MO, graduating in 1948.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, Martin Henry Whalen and Gertrude Johanna Jennie Whalen, nee Bescheinen; her husband, Charles Burton Jackson, who passed away on 17 May 1974; and Granddaugther Mahriah Edith Jackson.

Siblings and in-laws that preceded her in death were; Lawrence Whalen, Poplar Bluff, MO; Marie & Harold Kearbey, Byrnes Mill, MO; Raymond Whalen, Spavinaw, OK; James H. Whalen, Poplar Bluff; Irene Cagle, Roseburg, OR; John W. Whalen and his wife Veda, Poplar Bluff, MO; Joseph ‘Joe' F. Whalen, Poplar Bluff, MO. Lela and Dewey Hamblen, Arnold, MO, Jim and Melbaline and Adaline Jackson, House Springs, MO, John Jackson, Iowa.

Surviving are 2 siblings: Agnes (Paul) Cagle, Salina, OK and Charles (Shirley) Whalen, Poplar Bluff, MO.

Sisters-in-law: Lavern (Lawrence) Whalen of Poplar Bluff, MO; Annebelle (Bob) Downum of Spavinaw, OK; Olinda (James) Whalen, St. Louis, MO.

Brothers-in-law and Sister–in-law: Patrick & Sue Morgan, Overland, MO; Darrell Jackson, Tarkio, MO.

Surviving are her Children and their spouses: Michael Stephen ‘Steve' Jackson & Mary Akins Jackson of Freeburg, IL;
Donna Sue and Segundo Michael Tolentino of DeSoto, MO; and, Paula and Les Dierkes of Swansea, IL.

Grandchildren: Mathias and Emma Jackson of Samaxi, Azerbaijan; and Martina Jackson of Freeburg, IL. Maria Mears Sandoval of McDonough, GA; Heather and Keith Ferrante of Fiji &(Vacaville, CA); Gabriel Tolentino of DeSoto, MO; Ian and Tera Tolentino of DeSoto, MO; and Malia and Matt Brown of Rochester Hills, MI.; Chad Dierkes (Becky Fromme), Alex Dierkes (Maggie Dean), and Drew Dierkes of Swansea, IL.

Great-Grandchildren: Maci and Micah Ferrante of Fiji; Jason Pruitte, Ethan, and Merissa Tolentino of DeSoto, MO. Many nieces and nephews.

The Family will receive Friends at Mahn Funeral Home in DeSoto, MO on Thursday, July 23, 2009 from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m.

The Funeral will be held from the chapel at Mahn Funeral Home on Friday, July 24, 2009 at 10:00 a.m.

Interment will be at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery, Zion, Twelve Mile Twp, Madison County, Missouri about Noon.

Funeral service will be lead by Pastor Ron Follmer of DeSoto Christian Church.
