Mrs. Emma Christain Samuelson was born in Brevik, Vestewik parish Kalmar Lan, Sweden, Jan. 12, 1842, and passed away at the Bethphage Mission at Axtell Oct. 13, 1918.

She together with her husband and six children came to this country in 1880 and settled in Clay county, Neb. The family moved after a short time to Fillmore county and later back to Clay county. In 1892 they came to Phelps county, where they have resided ever since.

Soon after their arrival they were received into membership of the Swedish Methodist church and were faithful and active members thereof.

The departed leaves to mourn her loss, four sons, three daughters and several grandchildren, her husband and two children having gone before to a better land.

The funeral service was held in the Prairie Swedish Methodist church and was conducted by Rev. A. W. Carlson. Many relatives and friends were present and their floral offerings were beautiful. The remains were laid to rest in the Prairie Cemetery.
