Coy Ransom Moore, 87, passed away on Saturday, July 18, 2009, at his home on Popular Gap Road in the Meadow Fork Section of Hot Springs after a long illness.
Mr. Moore was a native and lifelong resident of Madison County. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Army Air Force. After the war, he was employed as an electrician and eventually became a successful farmer. He was an avid outdoorsman; a love he shared with and passed on to his children and grandchildren. Coy attended the Keenersville Christian Church. He believed that if you wanted to see God, you only had to take a walk in the woods. His spirit was gentle; his manner, kind. He was a pillar of the community and a model of tenderness and generosity to his family.
Coy was preceded in death by his parents, W. T. Bill and Susan Moore and his wife of 60 years, Mary Adele Moore; brother, Hugh L. Moore and sister, Dorothy Haddock.
Surviving are his daughters and sons-inlaw, Ann and F.N. Willett of Spring Creek, Kay and Jerry Green of Meadow Fork and Sonja and Jerry Plemmons of Hot Springs; sons and daughters-in-law, Billy and Anh Moore of Meadow Fork, Coy and Dana Moore of Leicester and Allan and Nancy Joyce of Melbourne, Fla.; grandchildren, Jeffrey and Jennifer Joyce, Ricky Gunter, Lechelle Fore, Toni and Scott Moore, Misty Waddell, Alyssa and Chris Moore; great-grandchildren, Brittany Joyce, Daryian Fore,
Megan, Tyler, Emily and Sarah Moore and Sirena Hernandez; brother, Hall Moore and sister, Alda Bradley.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday in the Chapel of Madison Funeral Home, with the Revs. James Hensley and Frank Willett officiating.
Burial will follow in the Meadow Fork Baptist Church Cemetery with the grandsons serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10 to 11 a.m., Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to Meadow Fork Baptist Church Cemetery Fund or the Keenersville Cemetery Fund.
