Cleophas Deschenes of Lawrence was pronounced dead on arrival at Lawrence General Hospital early on a Friday afternoon at the age of 63.

Mr. Deschenes was born in St. Alexandre, Canada and was a retired weaver, formerly employed for 30 years in the Wood Worsted Mill. He was a resident of Lawrence for over half a century and was a member of the Holy Name society of Sacred Heart parish.

He leaves his wife, Clara (St. Aubin) Deschenes; two daughters, Rita, wife of Thomas Kimball and Alice, a senior at Sacred Heart High School; four sons, Alfred Deschenes, U.S.Naval Air Corp, Henry, Roland and Philip Deschenes; two sisters, Mrs. Aime Duval, and Mrs. Helen Skilling; three brothers, George Deschenes, Arthur Deschenes and Isadore Deschenes.

The funeral was held on the following Tuesday at the Arthur J. Scott Funeral Home, 298 South Broadway, with a solemn high Mass of requiem at 9 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church.
