"MRS MURRAY PATCH
Sarah Prudence Smith was born at Vinton, IA on Aug 14, 1870, the eldest child of Michael E and Lucretta J Smith. With her parents, she moved to Woonsocket, SD in 1883, where she received her education and was engaged in teaching until the fall of 1890, when she again moved with her parents to Custer Co, NE. On Aug 3, 1893, she was married to Murray W Patch. From this union seven children were born. Blanche, the eldest, died in Buffalo, WY on Dec 28, 1918 and lies buried in Willow Grove Cemetery.
With her husband, Sarah came to Johnson County, WY in Jan 1900, where the family has since made their home. She was a devoted wife and Christian mother and leaves to mourn her loss her husband Murray and children as follows: Mrs David Elsom, Ellis, Murray, Charles, Mrs William Campbell and Charlotte Patch-all of whom are residents of Johnson County. She is also survived by a sister, Mrs Walter Patch, and two brothers, Peter J Smith of Buffalo and Guy L Smith of Mayoworth, WY together with one brother and four sisters living in OR and ID."
Sarah was the oldest of eleven children. Her siblings were; Peter John Smith 1871–1965, Mary Alice Smith 1873–1941, Maude Almeda Smith 1874–1947, Harry Smith 1876–1877, Guy Leroy Smith 1878–1958, Benjamin Douglas Smith 1879–1880, Ida Iona Smith 1882–1971, Margret Loretta Smith 1884–1969, Candice Miriam Smith 1887–1967, Jerome Elias Smith 1895–1956.
