EMILY AHLBORG BARRATT DIES OF SHORT ILLNESS

Emily Ahlborg Barratt, 37, 1310 North Twentieth street, director of nurses at the Middle River Sanatorium, died Monday evening at a Duluth hospital following a short illness.
Born in Elgin, Ill., January 18th, 1910, she had been a resident of Superior since 1921, attending schools here and graduating in the 1930 class at St. Mary's hospital school of nursing in Superior. She later did post graduate work at the University of Minnesota, and was city nurse here from 1931 until 1933 when she resigned to accept the position as director of nurses at the Middle River Sanatorium, a position which she held until entering the armed services in 1943.
Mrs Barratt served in the nurses corps of the army from March 1943 until June 1945 and returned to the position of director of nurses at Middle River in January of 1947.
She was a member of Pilgrim Lutheran church and the 13th District Wisconsin State Nurses association.
Survivors include her father and mother, Mr and Mrs Carl A. Ahlborg, and three brothers, Raymond, Edmond, and John, all of Superior, and a sister, Mrs Helen Wilkowski, Charlotte, N. C.
Funeral services have been tentatively set for Friday afternoon with the Thompson-Westin funeral home in charge of arrangements.
