Alma Ruth Garoutte - Mt. Vernon, 84, passed away at 2:40 p.m. Friday, Sept. 21, 2007, in the Mt. Vernon Place Care Cente4r.
Alma was born Sept. 28, 1922, in Wetumka, Okla., to William Perry and Nettie Mabel (Hindman) Wilson. She was a resident of the Mt. Vernon and Stotts City area, was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church, Mt. Vernon.
On Jan. 17, 1941, she married John Hubert Garoutte in Claremont, Calif. He preceded her in death on march 11, 1995.
Survivors include two daughters, Carol Lea Hartley, Aurora, and Cathy Sheldon, Bonne Terre; three sons, Don Garoutte and wife Sandy, and Duane Garoutte and wife Rita, all of Mt. Vernon, and Dennis Garouttte and wife, Susan, Cabot Ark.; two sisters, Quanetta Grant, state of California, and Venita Howard, state of Arizona; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Her parents, seven brothers and sisters and one grandson, Lonnie Wayne Hartley, preceded her in death.
Services were Tuesday, Sept 25, in the Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home, Mt. Vernon, with the Rev. Tim Burgess officiating. Burial was in the Garoutte Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the John Taylor Senior Center, Mt. Vernon, in care of the funeral home.
