Elias Marker, Co E 51st OVI; absent, sick; no further record found.
-Ohio Roster

According to U.S., Registers of Deaths of Volunteers, 1861-1865, he died of a gun shot wound to left lung. His state of service was mistakenly recorded as Indiana. That its probably why his record in the 51st Ohio was recorded as "no further record found." In U.S., Civil War Pension Index: General Index to Pension Files, 1861-1934 for Eli Marker, there was a pension claimed 7 May 1896. 1890 Veterans Schedules of the U.S. Federal Census for Eli Marker in Mississinawa, Darke County, Ohio. Did he survive? Then who is in this grave? Or, assumed identity?
