Mrs. Eva Anna Albrecht, the daughter of John and Barbara Gruber was born near Hope Dec. 20, 1871 and departed this life at the Herington hospital Aug 1, 1964 having attained the age of 89 years, 7 months and 22 days. She was baptized in the Lutheran faith Feb. 16, 1875 by Pastor C. H. Lueker. On April 14, 1889 she was confirmed by Pastor George Kreth at Immanuel, Shadybrook as St. John’s Lyons Creek had a vacancy at that time. She was united in marriage to Albert A. Albrecht Oct 26, 1893 in St. John’s Lutheran Church by Pastor Otto Mencke. They made their home on the farm 4 miles north of Herington where they enjoyed their married life together for nearly 57 years. Her husband preceded her in death Sept. 14, 1950. This union was blessed with 11 children, one passing away in infancy and one daughter, Mrs. Clara Roehrman, passed away in March, 1942. Surviving are the nine children: Mrs. Hannah Kandt, Hope, Walter and Martin, Herington, Mrs. Otto (Lydia) Hanson of White City. Arthur F. Alfred and Edwin Herington, Mrs. Merlin (Leona) Watkins and Milton of Wichita; 22 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and 2 great, great-grandchildren; two brothers, John Gruber of Hope and Dr. Charles Gruber of Redlands Calif, as well as many nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held on Wednesday,Aug. 5, 1964 at the Puryear Mortuary and at Immanuel Lutheran Church at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. George Klattenhoff officiating. Rock of Ages and Asleep in Jesus, were sung by the church choir accompanied by the organist, Mrs. Richard Traskowsky. Burial was in the church cemetery with Puryear Mortuary in charge of the arrangements. Pallbearers were grandsons, Edgar Rocherman, Laverne Albrecht, LeRoy Albrecht, George Kandt, Bill Albrecht and Clyde Kasten.
