Ewell W. "Wimpy" Lintecum, 85, died July 13, 2009, at his home, Hutchinson.

He was born Sept. 20, 1923, in Englevale, to Bryan and Adah Elliott Lintecum. He graduated in 1941, from Pretty Prairie High School, attended Sterling College, Sterling, and Salt City Business College, Hutchinson. He had been a meat cutter for many years, retiring at the age of 75 from Dillon's Company, as a dispatcher and watchman.

He belonged to Union Valley Bible Church, and the USD No. 313 Buhler School Board, and was a former member of the Free Will Baptist Church. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.

On Jan. 12, 1943, he married Florence Perkins in Hutchinson. She died July 1, 1984. In February 1988, he married Jan Phillips in McPherson. She survives.

Other survivors include: a son, Robert and wife Jackie, Junction City; a daughter, Diane Goertzen and husband Wayne, Hutchinson; stepchildren, Dan Phillips, Hutchinson, Susan Phillips, Lawrence, and Mary Brown, Kansas City, Mo.; sisters, Betty Warner, Hutchinson, Irene Brown, Haven, and Arlene Rees, Nixa, Mo.; grandsons, Kevin, Kurtis, and Kreg Goertzen; great-grandsons, Caleb, Tanner, Cody, Cole, and Chase Goertzen; step-grandchildren, Alexandria, Austin, and Mason Phillips, and Andrew and Conner Brown.

He was preceded in death by sons, Billy Guy, and Neal Winston Lintecum, brothers, Murl O., and Johnnie Lee Lintecum, and a sister, Maxine Castle.

Memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Friday July 17, 2009, at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with Pastor Steve Hodgson presiding. Friends may sign the register from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Burial will be in Partridge Cemetery, Partridge, with military graveside rites conducted by the Fort Riley Honor Guard.

Memorials may be sent to the Union Valley Bible Church, or Hospice of Reno County, both in care of the mortuary.
