Funeral for LaVerne "Granny" Brown, 86, of Paradise was to be at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 11, at Jones Family Funeral Home Chapel in Bridgeport with Bill Harmon and Melvin Castleberry officiating. Burial was to follow at Paradise Cemetery.
Brown died Thursday, July 9, 2009, in Paradise.
Born Sept. 26, 1922, in Bridgeport to John and Betty Adams, she played Nintendo and fished, and she also watched the Texas Rangers and Dallas Cowboys. She was a lifetime member of the Bridgeport Riding Club and the East Mound Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul; daughter, Paulette McQuinn; three sisters; and two brothers.
She is survived by a son, Joe Brown and wife, Wanda; granddaughters, Missy Martinez and husband, Ed, and Stacey Williams and husband, Jimmy; step-grandchildren, Joyce Stearns, Danny Abney and Tammy Clayton; sister, Martha Starnes; 18 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were to be Doyle Gene Smith, Henry Kaker, Nole Gilley, Kevin Huffman, Bud Buck and David McIntyre. Honorary pallbearers were to be J.D. Williams, Nick Martinez, Justin Williams, Ray Kenyon, Tom Wilson and Don Jackson."
