Albert was living in Troy, TX when he entered the service and was the pilot of a F-86F Sabrejet fighter bomber with the 335th Fighter-Interceptor Squadron, 4th Fighter-Interceptor Group.

On February 11, 1953, while returning from a combat mission and making a final approach to the runway, his aircraft crashed killing him.

First Lieutenant Beerwinkle was awarded the Purple Heart, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
