Funeral services were held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Sardis Baptist Church with the Rev. Jack Jones, pastor, and the Rev. C. C. Martin, Winnfield Laurel Heights Church pastor, officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery under direction of Southern Funeral Home.
Mrs. Shelton was a lifelong resident of Winn Parish and a member of the Sardis Baptist Church where she was active in all phases of church work.
Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Millie [sic Minnie] Philan and Mrs. E. J. Hughes, both of Shreveport; five sons, Monroe, Tilman, Velma[r], and Joseph Shelton, all of Winnfield, and Jesse Shelton of Calvin; one brother, G. W. Evans, Winnfield; one sister, Mrs. Mattie Shelton, of Winnfield; 30 grandchildren, 62 great grandchildren, and seven great-great grandchildren.
