Mr. Shelton had served as mayor of Calvin for two terms and as justice of the peace for 24 years in Ward 8 of Winn Parish. He was also a barber and member of Calvin Lodge.
He was survived by his wife, Mrs. Pearl Maxey Shelton of Calvin; two sons, Jack Shelton of Winnfield, and Joe Edd Shelton of Tannehill; one daughter, Mrs. Kerry S. Boone of Shreveport; three brothers, Monroe Shelton, John T. Shelton, and Joseph Shelton, all of Winnfield; two sisters, Mrs. Minnie Philan and Mrs. Ruth Hughes, both of Shreveport; 5 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
