On May 11, 1921, after a four-year courtship, he married Leone Jessop, the daughter of Thomas E. and Marion Holt Jessop. She was born November 13, 1900. She attended Millville School and South Cache High School.
Ellis and Leone spent all their married life in the Nibley area. Ellis farmed and was employed for twenty-one years at the Amalgamated Sugar Company. He served on the Millville Nibley Cemetery board for twenty-five years, and he was active in church work.
Leone served in many church positions, especially in Relief Society. She excelled in homemaking skills, and she enjoyed crocheting.
They are parents of four children: Marjorie (Archie Rock), LaVon (deceased), Thomas F. and Marilyn (Larry Staser).
