LaVell Clark Brinkerhoff, 77, a loving husband and father, died after a long illness on Saturday, May 8, 1999, at the North Big Horn Hospital in Lovell, Wyoming with his family at his side.

He was born in Lovell, Wyoming on July 5, 1921 to Warren and Josephine Brinkerhoff. He was a Master Chief Petty Officer in the Navy during World War II and then spent most of his life in law enforcement and criminal investigations. He served as a Wyoming Highway Patrolman, the Chief of Police in Lovell and Jackson, Wyoming, the Sheriff of Big Horn County, the Director of the Wyoming State Bureau of Criminal Identification, and then founded Brinkerhoff Investigations.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many positions therein including as a faithful hometeacher.

He is survived by his wife, Rhoda (May) Brinkerhoff of Lovell, Wyoming, five sons, Richard of Byron, Wyoming, Jeff of Casper, Wyoming, James of Oakland, Michigan, Steve of Cheyenne, Wyoming, and Val of Elk Ridge, Utah, one daughter, Marti Grobecker of Salt Lake City, Utah, 23 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, five brothers, and four sisters.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 11, 1999 at 2:00 p.m. at the LDS Stake Center in Lovell, Wyoming and burial will follow at the Lovell Cemetery.
