"John's father made a deed to him for his farm for taking care of him, on June 29, 1897, just three months before his death. Cal continued to live there until his death in 1920. On March 28, 1898 Cal bought 20 acres from John Bumbalough adjoining the John Clouse property which now belonged to Cal.

On December 22, 1903 for the sum of six dollars Cal made a deed to a tract of land to Marion Bumbalough, Jasper DeRossett and James Henry (Elders of the Church of Christ) for a church. This church became known as Beech Grove Church of Christ. Deed recorded Book #V, Page @511."
