He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Florence Robins Austin; his daughters, Dianne A. Rust and her husband, Craig, and Jane A. Waddell and her husband, Greg; his son, Gary W. Austin and his wife, Beverly; six grandchildren, Kelly Elizabeth Rust, Brian Craig Rust, Taylor Scott Austin, Kyle Davis Waddell, Morgan Elizabeth Waddell, and Hunter Reid Waddell; one sister, Virginia A. Anderson and her husband, Ben.
He was a World War II veteran.
He was a member of Providence United Methodist Church.
He was a member of Chesterfield Ruritan Club.
