Mass of Christian Burial was February 2 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Harding, MN, with Father Roger Thoennes officiating. Burial was in the parish cemetery.
Barbara was born in Pierz on October 12, 1898, to the late William and Catherine (Jaeger) Meyer. She was united in marriage to Christ Schlegel on January 2, 1923, at St. Teresa's Church in Whitehall, MT. Following their marriage, they lived in Montana; Lead, SD, Little Falls, MN, and on a farm near Harding. After retiring, Barbara lived at Alverna Apartments in Little Falls and was an active volunteer at St. Otto's Center and St. Gabriel's Hospital. She was a member of Holy Cross Parish in Harding, founded and served as chairperson for 20 years of the Rosary Sodality, member of Daughters of Isabella and the Third Order Franciscans.
Survivors include sons - Herb of Dawson, ND; James of Houston, MN; Joseph of Inver Grove Heights, MN; Willis of Harding; and, Earl of Farmington, MN; and a daughter - Mary Jean Schlegel of St. Cloud, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband in 1946, son, Charles in 1978; four sisters and five brothers.
Casketbearers were sons, Herb, Jim, Joe, Willis, Earl, and grandson, Ron Schlegel.
