Mrs. Cora C. Wallace, wife of J.E. Wallace of Jackson, died very suddenly at her home in the northeastern part of the city, the exact hour of death being 10:30. Earlier in the day, Mrs. Wallace complained that she had difficulty in breathing, but her condition was not thought to be serious. But the end came so suddenly that medical aid could not be procured. Mrs. Wallace succumbed while sitting in a chair.
She was born near Leemon on Oct. 6, 1850, and was therefore 72 years of age on last Friday. Her entire life was spent in this county. Judge and Mrs. Rufus Woods, both deceased, were her parents, and leaves to mourn her death, her husband, J. Edgar Wallace, to whom she was married on Feb. 3, 1870; two sons, Carl, of Douglasville, Pennsylvania, and Louis, of Fruitland; and two daughters, Mrs. Olga Davis of Jackson, and Mrs. Gale Key of Shreveport, Louisiana; also five grandchildren and three great grandchildren; and two brothers, J.J. and George A. Wood of Leemon; and two sisters, Mrs. Lilly Alexander of Fruitland and Mrs. Columbia Daugherty of Jackson.
Funeral arrangements have not been completed, owing to the fact that the relatives who live far away have not had time to get here. (Southeast Missourian Oct. 11, 1922 p.2)
