Born November 25, 1924 in Cleveland County, she was a daughter of the late Joe Cullen Brackett and Myrtle Vangarine Walker Brackett.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, William Plato McFarland ; a son, William Edison McFarland; a daughter-in-law, Louise McFarland of Casar; a sister, Irene Brackett Jeffries; and two brothers, James Vonnie Brackett and Glenn Ezell Brackett.
Mrs. McFarland is survived by three sons, Douglas "Pete" McFarland a nd wife, Teresa of Casar; Larry Eugene McFarland and wife, Kathy of Ellenboro and Joe Harrison McFarland of Casar; a daughter, Mary Brenda McFarland of the home; eight grandchildren, two step grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and one step great-grandchild; brother-in-law, William "Bill" Jeffries; and two sisters, Margie Brackett Shelton and husband, Jack and Alice Wilma Brackett.
She was a homemaker and was a member of Mt. Moriah United Methodist Church.
Funeral Services will be 7:00 PM, Tuesday, June 30, 2009 at Stamey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Roy Miller and Rev. Michael Brackett officiating.
A graveside service will be 10:00 AM, Wednesday, July 1, 2009 at Mt. Moriah United Methodist Church Cemetery, Casar.
