Loretta Lewis Stewart, 87, Tucson, Ariz., formerly of Waynesburg, died after a long illness at 9:40 a.m. Monday, October 10, 1983.

She was born September 18, 1896 in Jackson, Township, a daughter of James M. and Haddie Fordyce Lewis. As a young woman she taught school in Waynesburg, where she resided most of her life. She had made her home for the past 25 years at Newark, Del. and Tucson, Ariz.

Mrs. Stewart was a lifelong member of the Washington Street Methodist Church.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Helen Martoff of Raleigh, N.C. and Mrs. Mary Kennel of Newark, Del.; a son, John L. Stewart of Tucson, Ariz,; 18 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Mary Walter and Mrs. Margaret McGinty, both of Washington.

Two brothers, James B. and Halie Lewis are deceased.

Funeral arrangements, being made by the Behm Funeral Home, Inc., Waynesburg, are incomplete.

Stewart - Graveside services for Loretta Lewis Stewart of Tucson, Ariz., formerly of Waynesburg, who died Monday, October 10, 1983, will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, October 14, at Oakmont Cemetery, Waynesburg, with the Rev. Ralph W. Brownfield officiating. Friends will be received for one hour before the service in the Behm Funeral Home, Inc., 182 West High Street. The family suggests contributions to the Washington Street United Methodist Church.
