Walter Almon "Pop" Winslett, Sr., 74, of 310 Cedar Circle, died Tuesday, June 30, 2009, at Palmetto Health Baptist Easley.

Born in Pickens County, a son of the late Horace Lee and Kate Ballentine Winslett, Sr., Mr. Winslett was owner of Winslett Produce and Mulch Company of Easley and was a member of Easley First United Methodist Church. He was a veteran of the US Army, a Mason and a Shriner and a member of the American Legion.

Surviving are his wife, Lorna Castor Ensley Winslett of the home; five sons, Walter Almon Winslett, Jr., James Winslett and wife, Betty, Michael Ensley and wife, Ellen, Jeffrey Ensley and Mark Ensley, all of Easley; a daughter, Lee Ann Winslett of Easley; a brother, Jimmy "Slew" Winslett of Easley; four sisters, Eme Smith, Mary Bagwell and Catherine Brown, all of Easley, and Dora Ann Twiford of Kannapolis, NC; ten grandchildren, Crystal Winslett, Brandon Thibault, Chris Robinson, Amanda Vaughn, Jennifer Lee, Katie Williams, Andrea Demetrio, Robin Hawkins, Jennifer Ensley and Stephenie LePree; and seven great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Mr. Winslett was predeceased by a brother, Horace Lee Winslett, Jr., and a sister, Helen Lynes.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Easley First United Methodist Church with Rev. Jim Correll and Rev. Charlie Bishop officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

The body is at Robinson Funeral Home-Powdersville Road where the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday and will be placed in the church at 10:30 a.m. Thursday.
