Thomas was the son of Thomas Canady and Nancy (Hardesty) Stout Canady. He was married first to Eva (Huffman) Canady on March 8, 1838 in Clark County, Ohio.Thomas and Eva had at least six children together including: David, Cynthia, Herman, Joshua, Thomas Aaron and Nancy J. Canady. Thomas married second to Lucinda (Town) Scarlett Canady on May 22, 1852 in Clark County, Ohio. They had at least one son together named Guy Canady born about 1852. Thomas married his third wife, Joanna (Argo) Miner Canady before 1859 in Illinois. They had at least three children together including: Dora Hannah, William and Lillie Canady.
