The fifth child born to John David Monroe Cherry and Anna Lou Cisson Cherry. He was brother to James Clarence, Herman Wesley, Andrew Jackson, Oma Lee, Shalley Curtis and Buford Doyle Cherry.He married Ida Olivia Smith on Jan. 13, 1934 in Hopkins Co., TX. Together they had two sons: Donald Leroy and Joe Douglas Cherry.
