CATHERINE FINKEL was born 1791 in Columbia County, New York, and died 21 Jan 1869 in Schroeppel, Oswego County, NY. She married JOHN SNOOK born 1790 in Copake, Columbia County, New York, and died 16 Jan 1869 in Schroeppel, Oswego County, NY. Maiden name "FINKEL" listed on the baptism record for first daughter Ida, born to John Snook and Catherine Finkell, as listed in "Baptism Records of West Copake Reformed Church, Copake, NY 1783-1899".

Children of JOHN SNOOK and CATHERINE FINKEL are:

IDA SNOOK, b. 09 Sep 1811, Copake, Columbia County, NY; d. 30 Apr 1860, Williamson, Wayne County, NY.

FREEMAN SNOOK, b. 1818, New York State; d. Jan 1884, Schroeppel, Oswego County, NY. He married LYDIA SOULE 1840 in Montgomery County, NY, daughter of NATHAN SOULE and CHRISTIANA CHRISPORUS. She was born Jul 1821 in Fort Plain, Montgomery County, NY, and died 03 Aug 1904 in Syracuse, Onondaga County, NY.

CHARLOTTE SNOOK, b. Abt. 1831, Ontario County, NY.

ELEANOR J. SNOOK, b. Abt. 1834, Ontario County, NY.

I believe there are 4 more children which I have no records for.

Catharine and John Snook lived the majority of their life in Wayne County where they appear on the 1840, 1850 and 1860 Federal Census. In the census information they are from the towns of Palmyra & Williamson respectively. It is my strong belief they had four other children.

Catharine Snook's obituary appeared in Palmyra courier (Palmyra, N.Y.), early February paper under "death" (actual death - 21 Jan 1869) The obituary simply stated "Snook – On January 21st, 1869 at Scrupletown (presumed a misspelling of Schroeppel, since there is no such town as "Scrupletown") Catherine, wife of John Snook. Age 78".
