Deceased Name: R. Grant Andersen

Richard Grant Andersen died on Aug. 6, 2007 from complications following a stroke.

He was born on June 30, 1923, the son of Guy M and Libbie Neibaur Andersen.

He grew up in the Teton Basin in Idaho.

Grant joined the Navy at the start of World War II and served mainly in the South Pacific. He married Bernece O. Taylor on July 10, 1942 in Rexburg, Idaho. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

Grant worked in the retail and wholesale furniture and floor covering business. After his retirement, he and his wife enjoyed many winters in Arizona.

He was a high priest in the Five Springs LDS Ward. He served in many positions in the Church and enjoyed genealogy and temple attendance. His greatest joys were centered around service to others, particularly his family. He especially loved spending time with his children and grandchildren and in his quiet, unassuming manner, taught many of life's sweetest lessons by his example.

Grant is survived by his wife of 65 years, Bernece, one daughter, Karen, of Ogden, three grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Stephen E. Andersen.

A viewing will be held on Wednesday evening, August 8th from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Thursday morning from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at Leavitt's Mortuary 836 36th Street. Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 9, 2007 at Leavitt's Mortuary at 11 a.m.
