Jim was born in Alabama and met and married Georgia born Mary E. Kimbell in Claiborne Parish on February 3, 1869.
The 1900 census has errors listing Mary as "Mollie" and her age as 30. They wound up according to the 1900 census in the lower half of Ward 8 in Claiborne parish. They had seven children: Lilla Jane (Autrey), Fannie (Riddle), Charlie, Leola (Bailey), Nannie (Collinsworth), Bessie (Riddle), and Tal.
J.H. suffered from a form of facial cancer and he passed away in 1904. He family then migrated to the Saline/Readheimer area of Louisiana. Mary wound up being interred at Mill Creek Cemetery in Bienville parish beside her daughter, Lilla Jane Autrey.
