Thomas Turpin, 58, lifelong resident of Mt. Zion township died suddenly of a heart attack at 6 pm Monday at his farm home east of Mt. Zion. He was stricken while fishing late Monday afternoon in a stream near his home. Carl Jones and Russell Shepherd were fishing nearby and saw him slump to the ground. They carried him to his home, where he died within a short time.

He was born in Mt. Zion township,June 13, 1874 and had been a farmer in that community all his life.

He was the son of Robert and Nancy Turpin. He leaves three sisters, Mrs. Susan Bledso, Decatur, Mrs. Myrtle McCoy, Mt. Zion and Mrs. Floence Yoder, Portland, Ore, his step-mother Mrs.Eva Turpin of Mt. Zion and a half-sister, Mrs. Martha Romine, Mt. Zion.
