Moyd W. Carter of Andrews Died Monday
Andrews Special Moyd W. Carter, 54 farmer and produce dealer of near Andrews died Saturday in the Georgetown County Memorial Hospital in Georgetown after an illness of several weeks.
Funeral services were held Monday in Holy Trinity Pentecostal Holiness Church. Officiating were the pastor the Rev L Goude and the Rev Henry Duncan. Burial was in Elmwood Cemetery Annex, Georgetown directed by Mayer Funeral Home.
Mr. Carter was born in the Center section of Georgetown County Feb 1 1906 a son of the late William Thomas Carter and Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Flowers Carter.
He attended the old Good Hope School and worked for some years in the textile work at McColl. He later returned to the Center area and farmed there until about 12 years ago when he moved near Andrews to farm. He also operated a produce business for the last 10 years.
Surviving are the widow, the former Miss Elma Smith a son Buck Carter, two daughters Miss Lillian Carter and Miss Vera Mae Carter both of Andrews; four brothers E Roy Carter, Andrews, Harry J Carter and Reg Carter, both of Georgetown; and Ivory Carter, Hemingway; three sisters Mrs. Jim Ray, Hemingway, Mrs. Woodrow Cribb Georgetown, and Mrs. Clarence Morse Murrells Inlet and nine grandchildren.
