James Ivory Carter, 51, died Monday in a Georgetown Hospital as a result of injuries received in the burning of his automobile July 3 while he was driving in upper Georgetown County.
Mr. Carter was born in Georgetown County, a son of the late William T. and Elizabeth Flowers Carter. He was employed by Wellman Industries in Johnsonville for the past 15 years.
Funeral services will be today at 5 pm in Morris Funeral Home and burial in Center Baptist Church Cemetery in Georgetown County.
Surviving are his widow Mrs. Nina Johnson Carter; a son James Wendell Carter of the home; two daughters Mrs. Barbara Ann Powell of Hemingway and Mrs. Patsy Elizabeth Drayton of Florence; two brother Redge and Roy Carter of Georgetown; and three sisters Mrs. Florence Cribb of Georgetown; Mrs. Margaret Morse of Murrells Inlet and Mrs. Eva Ray of Hemingway.
