Almer J. Hanson, 86, died Saturday, January 19, at the Good Samaritan Home, where he and his wife have both been residents. He was born December 31, 1893 in Allamakee County, to Lars and Mathilda Hanson. He was educated in the local schools, was a farmer, and served in World War II, a member of the American Legion, and a member of Old West Paint Creek Lutheran Church.
He was married to Ida Larson on November 8, 1922, at Old West Paint Creek. His wife survives, along with three sons, Hilford, of Grand Island, Nebraska, Arden, of Waukon, and Dr. Vernon, Monona; sixteen grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a daughter, Cynthia, is deceased as is a brother Clarence.
Funeral services were held on Monday, January 21, at 1:30 p. m. at Old West Paint Creek Lutheran Church, with Rev. Paul Tobiason officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Wayne and Jerry Winke, Thomas, Mark, Steven and David Hanson. Military rites were held at the graveside.
