John Treece, 59, died at his home between Concord and Netherlands, Thursday afternoon of injuries he sustained when he fell from a wagon Monday afternoon of last week as he was going to his home from Hayti. Somehow he lost his balance and fell, injuring the fourth and fifth vertebrae of his spinal column.
Mr Treece went home on October 24, 1879, in Mississippi, but had lived in the state for many years. He formerly owned a farm three miles west of the city just south of the Braggadocio road, but in recent years had been farming in the north end of the county.
Mrs. Treece preceded him in death some three years ago. Eleven children survive him. They are Samuel and Daniel Treece of Pontiac, Mich.; Amos Treece of Pascola; Harry and Hosea Treece of Hayti; Mrs. Ida Bradsher of Lake Oren, Mich.; Mdmes. Edna Elkins and Christine Cross and Miss Marcell Treece of Hayti; and Misses Faye and Helen Treece of Netherlands.
Funeral services were conducted from the Nazarene Church in this city Friday afternoon by the Rev. A.O. Shearrer and interment in Maple cemetery.
