Per her daughter, Lillian was always known as Bonnie to everyone. She was a normal training teacher in the early 1930s. Taught for one year and then married Ted. First and foremost she was a housewife and mother. When they moved to Independence, MO, she worked at the Independence Hospital as a Nurses Aide and then as a Ward Clerk. She was one of the staff who cared for Bess Truman, wife of President Harry S. Truman.
At one time in Independence we lived only a couple of houses away from the Trumans. I was a small child at the time and don't remember this, but Mom told me that Harry would pat me on the head when he came by when he was out walking. He must have liked small children.
