PHILADELPHIA – Services for Retha Hillman Jay will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at McClain-Hays Chapel with the Revs. David Jay and Jim Bryant officiating. Burial will be in Liberty Baptist Cemetery in Newton with McClain-Hays Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Jay, 83, of Philadelphia, died Thursday, June 18, 2009, at Woodland Village Nursing Center in Diamondhead.
She was a native of Newton County and reared in Neshoba County.
She was a resident of Laurel for many years and moved back to Neshoba County in 1984. She had lived in Diamondhead for the past three years. She was a retired seamstress and formerly worked in the garment industry in Laurel and Union. She was Baptist by faith.
Survivors include her son, Jerry Jay and his wife Gloria, of Biloxi; grandsons, Kevin Jay, of Diamondhead, Gary Bryant, of Slidell, La., and Jim Bryant, of Crystal Springs; ten great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Grimes, of Philadelphia; and numerous nieces, nephews, and their families.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alton L. Jay; eight sisters; and nine brothers.
Visitation will be held today, from 5 p.m. - 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
