Carl F. Markway, 97, formerly of Jefferson City, died Friday, Mar 9, 2007 at the Windsor Estates in Camdenton, MO. He was born Nov 6, 1909 at Wardsville to the late Henry and Mary Ann Roling Markway. He was united in marriage to Maybell Vaught, who preceded him in death on Mar 17, 1974. Mr. Markway had worked at Tweedie Shoe Factory and then had been employed as a union painter during most of his life. After retirement from painting, he worked for Kempker Sales for a number of years.

A lifelong resident of the area, he is survived by a daughter, Evelyn and her husband Donald Dougherty of Roach, MO, a special person in his life, Juanita Atkinson of Holts Summit. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Josephine Markway, Frances Struempf and Leona Eggers; two brothers, Andrew Markway and Paul Markway; two sons, James Kenneth Markway, who died Jan 6, 1934 and Larry Paul Markway, who died May 18, 1990; and one great-grandson, Zachary Carl Dougherty, who died Mar 26, 2004. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church on Monday, with the Rev. Benjamin Nwosu and the Rev. Brendan Griffey officiating.
