J. August Sundberg, 88, passed away at 1:30 a.m. May 15 in the Indiana Memorial Hospital.

Born in Sweden July 13, 1860, a son of Lars and Anna Oldsdotter Sundberg, he had lived for 45 years in Indiana County. He was employed by the R. and P. Coal Company for 25 years and had been a merchant in Homer City for 13 years and since retiring from the store had been a farmer in White Township.

Mr. Sundberg was a member of the Lutheran Church of Indiana. I.O.O.F. of Rural Valley No. 766, Blairsville Encampment, the K. P. of Rural Valley.

Mr. Sundberg's wife, Olivia, preceded him in death four years ago, May 8. He leaves on daughter, Mrs. Anna Risinger of Clymer, R.D. two sons, A. R. Sundberg of Burgettstown, Charles F. of White Township, 11 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the Bell Funeral Home, Wayne Avenue after 7:30 today, where funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 18, by Rev. R. K. Weber. Interment will be in Grove Chapel cemetery.

John August Sundberg, prominent retired Homer City merchant and former R. & R. Coal Company employee, passed away Sunday, May 15, 1949 in Indiana Hospital.

Mr. Sundberg was born in Sweden, a son of Lars and Anna Oldstotter Sundberg. His wife, Olivia Sundberg, preceded him in death.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Anna Risinger, Clymer, R.E.; two sons, Charles F. Sundberg, White Twp., and A. R. Sundberg, Burgettstown, Pa.

Friends will be received at the Bell Funeral Home, Indiana, after 7:30 this evening and services will be conducted on Wednesday at 2 p.m. by the Reverend R. K. Weber of Grove Chapel Lutheran Chruch. Burial will be in Grove Chapel Cemetery.
