His siblings: Elizabeth, Andrew, John M, Peter, Sarah J, William and Mary.
His father moved the family to Wayne County, Iowa in 1851 (source: 1856 Iowa CR) where Tom became acquainted with the Messenger family and that's how he met his wife.
On July 24, 1853, Tom married Mary Adelia, the daughter of Frederick Dent Messenger and Jane Marie Johnson, in Wayne County. They had 11 children, all of whom lived to adulthood: John Clark, Charles Augustus, George Johnson, Mary Jane 'Mollie', Sarah Jane 'Sally', William Thomas, Ira Newton, Martha Elemedia, Joseph, Dennis Burris and Carrie Belle.
The family lived and farmed in the area till about 1861 when they traveled by wagon train to the Pacific Northwest. They were there in 1862 when Sally was born.
On September 1, 1869, Tom purchased 160 acres in Clark County, Washington which was not yet a state. This land was near Brush Prairie township.
The Washington State Department of Agriculture recognized the Ruark farm on page 123 of their Centennial Farms publication. You can read it here.
