Carl or Charles Bloom/Blume was born in Prussia. His father is listed as Charles in the 1900 Federal Census. Charles reports he came to America in 1852 and is Naturalized.

Carl Blume married Charlotte Broemmelsieck 28 September 1856 in Iserlohn, Westphalia, Prussia.

Charles was a private in Company C 5th Mo S.M Calvary in Fall of 1861. He was discharged Fall of 1862 because of Typhoid Fever he contracted in Benton Barracks Missouri.

Their first known child Frank Charles Bloom was born 23 Oct 1865 and daughter Elizabeth Bloom born 18 Oct 1867, both in St. Louis, St. Louis, Missouri.

By 1870 the Bloome family has moved to Paujaub Post office, Jackson Twp., Ste Genevieve Missouri. They have a new daughter Mary (Emma) born 5 June 1870. Living with them is Charlotte's nephew Henry (Bremmersick) who was visiting when his parents contracted Cholera and died.

The family moved to Fairview, Labette County Kansas before the 1880 Federal Census. Henry Brammersick is listed as adopted.

In 1883 they filed for Disability. They moved to Aliceville Post Office, Avon Twp., Coffey County where Charles is a farmer in the 1885 State Census. 1887 Charles Bloome is admitted into the U.S. National Home for Disabled Volunteer soldiers. Charlotte Bloome (wife) of Burlington(Coffey Co.) KS filled out the papers. Charles is listed as Protestant, age 71; Height 5'3; complexion Light; color of Eyes Blue; color of hair Gray; Occupation Shoemaker. He was discharged 19 Nov. 1888.

March 1, 1895 Kansas State Census lists them moved to Franklin Twp., Bourbon County Kansas. They are living with their three unmarried children. Charles's wife Charlotte died 15 September 1895 in Bourbon County, Kansas. In 1900 Charles is living with his three children , all unwed. Charles died 24 November 1902 and is buried in the Stevenson Cemetery next to his wife and son Charley.
