Edmond Bruso
Edmond Bruso, 61, World War II Army veteran and former resident of 206 Beech St., died unexpectedly at the Vermont Veterans Home Thursday night.
The son of Amelia and Mary (LaPointe) Bruso, he was born in Bennington Jan 18, 1910 and received his schooling in Bennington.
Mr. Bruso had been employed in the construction business all his life. He was with the late M.J. Burrington firm in Bennington for about 30 years, and in his last employment was in the same capacity with the William H. Morse Construction Co.
Mr. Bruso married the former Ethel Thomas in Hoosick Falls, N.Y., on Feb 1, 1935. Mrs. Bruso died Oct 11, 1969.
He had been a long-time member of the local nerie, 1861, Fraternal Order of Eagles and also belonged to Taconic Grange, Shaftsbury.
Survivors are one daughter, Mrs. Patricia A. Cross of Bennington; two sons, William F. Bruso of Bennington and Edmond J. Bruso of Merritt Island, Fla.; four grandsons; four sisters, Mrs. Ralph (Della) O'Dell of Ilion, N.Y.; Mrs. Michael (Eva) Moretti of North Bennington, Mrs. Winfield (Louisa) Robinson of Bennington and Mrs. Harvey (Irene) Wheeler of Nassau, N.Y.; six brothers, Joseph of Bennington, William of Ilion, N.Y., Arthur of Bennington, Francis of Peabody, Mass., Louis of Ilion, N.Y. and David of Johnsonville, N.Y.; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The military funeral is tentatively arranged for Monday at Mahar & Son Funeral Home at 9:30 am with prayer and then because of renovations in St. Francis de Sales Church, the Requiem High Mass will be offered at 10 in Sacred Heart Church.
Calling hours at the funeral home are Saturday from 7 to 9 pm and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. Recitation of the Rosary will be Sunday at 8pm. Burial will be in the family lot in Grandview Cemetery, North Bennington.
If friends desire, contributions in his memory may be made to the Bennington Rescue Squad through the home offices.
