Thursday, September 5, 1957

Charles Stephen Beaty, third child of Edward T. and Samantha Gillespie Beaty, was born November 27, 1875 at Pleasantville, Iowa, and departed this life, August 31, 1957 at the age of 81 years, 9 months and 4 days.

He moved with his parents to Lucas County, where he spent most of his life farming in the Bethel Community. He was united in marriage to Marcella Dixon January 14, 1896, who departed this life April 22, 1904. To this union one son was born, Glenn, who survives him. He married Frances T. Smith on November 21, 1909.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Mina F. Beaty and Mrs. Dora Gifford, also by a brother, David Thomas Beaty.

He leaves to mourn his passing his wife Frances, the son, Glenn & daughter-in-law Beulah; three grandchildren, Mrs. Maxine Smith and Marvin Beaty of Russell, and Mrs. Frances McKnight of Newton, Iowa; also seven great grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Elma Dixon of Russell and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, September 3rd at 2 p.m. at the Woodman Funeral Home, Rev. Archie Beals officiating. Burial was made in the Russell Cemetery. Pall bearers were Joe Drake, John Ryan, Roy Archer, Lambert Davis, Howard Smith and Oran Kinmouth.

Two hymns, "Beyond the Sunset" and "Will There Be Any Stars in My Crown" were sung by Carl H. Wright ans Quincy Robb, accompanied by Mrs. John Woodman.
