Gladys Marie Moore, born August 8, 1906, at Medicine Lodge, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Levi Strickland, died June 13, 1968, in Halstead, after a lengthy illness. Her entire life was spent in Medicine Lodge and she was a member of the graduating class of 1923 of the Medicine Lodge High School.

She was a member of the Business and Professional Women's Club, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary, the American Legion Auxiliary and the Presbyterian Church. She worked many years at the local post office until her health forced her to retire.

Survivors include the husband, Marcus of the home and one daughter, Mrs. Joyce Roberson, and three grandchildren of Hutchinson.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Opal Hill Kness.

Services were held Saturday, June 15 at Forsyth Funeral Home with Rev. Albert Fenn officiating. Burial was in Highland Cemetery.

The flag at the local post office was flown at half mast in her honor Saturday, June 15. -- The Barber County Index, June 20, 1968.

Gladys Strickland married Roland Omar Hewitt on June 30,1927. He died on September 1, 1935. On October 12, 1940, she married Adrian ("Bud") Adolph Ward (1912-1956). On June 27, 1960, she married Marcus E. "Red" Moore (1920-2004).
