Bessie Glee DeLawter, 98, Miller's marry Manor, died there Saturday, Sept. 25, 1982, after a long illness.
A lifelong resident of Miami County, she was born on March 1, 1884, the daughter of James and Emily Ross McHale. On Dec. 15, 1904, she married David Chester DeLawter, and he died May 19, 1945.
Mrs. DeLawter was a homemaker. She was a member of the Main Street United Methodist Church, the Order of the Amaranth and the Grandmothers' Club.
Surviving are a daughter, Josephine Murray, Peru; three sons, Louis and Walter, both of Peru, and Howard of Kokomo; nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. Three brothers are deceased.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, the Rev. Dr. Wilburt Littrell officiating. Burial will be in Springdale Cemetery, Bunker Hill. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 this afternoon.
