Alois Dirkes, 90, a resident of the Cashmere area for the past 46 years, died last week in a Wenatchee hospital. Born June 2, 1886, In Albany, Minn., he grew up there and attended school. He attended business college and came West in 1911, settling In the Palisades. On Dec. 29, 1915, he married Wanda Knox at Centralis.
They later moved to Cashmere. Hls wife preceded him in desth in 1960. Mr. Dirkes married Louise Davis on April 11, 1962, at Wenatchee. He had been a fruit grower in the Cashmere area.
He was also preceded In death by one son, Wilbur, in 1951. He was a member of the Peshastln Kiwanis Club. Surviving are his wife, Louise, Cashmere; two sons, Andrew Dirkes, Dryden, and Gordon Dirkes, Florida; one daughter, Mrs. Carl (Dorothy) Weber, East Wenatchee; one brother, George Dirkes, Minnesota; nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held last week In St. James' Episcopal Church with Rev. Edwin Hitchcock officiating. Earl Barnes played the organ. Burial took place in the Cashmere Cemetery with the following Pallbearers; Jeff Weber, Jack Dirkes, Al Dormaier, Terry Dormaier, Dan Davis, Bob Hall, Chris Hues and Tom Dirkes. Braun Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
